Malicious VSCode Extensions Infect Windows with Cryptominers

Nine extensions on the Microsoft Visual Studio Code Marketplace are posing as legitimate development tools while infecting users with the XMRig cryptominer to mine Ethereum and Monero. These malicious extensions have been discovered and reported for their ability to compromise users' Windows systems. The impacts include exploiting system resources for cryptocurrency mining, which can lead to degraded performance and increased energy consumption.
